So the holidays are over, the intense party season is done and it's time to set some new goals!
This is the year, you’re going to write out your healthy New Year’s resolutions and keep to your word! Here are a few tips to help ya with that and make your fitness goals as easy to attain as possible in 2015!
Find a friend, do it as a couple or hire a professional to keep you accountable to your goals! My clients are so successful with their fat loss goals because I keep them accountable with pictures, weekly questions, check-ins and it goes without mentioning they put in the work! Whether you use a pro or not make sure your fitness buddy holds you to your word and you do the same for them! Text each other daily with pictures of your meals, set strict gym times or whatever works to keep you on track!
Write down your goal with a TIME FRAME and commit to it! Now you have your finish line, work backwards from there and put the pieces together to achieve your objective…
Ex: I want to drop 20 lbs by the time the sun is out and do something active 3x per week…now let’s break it down!
May 1st is 15 weeks away so I need to drop just under 1.5 lbs per week to reach my goal, which means I need to start taking a close look at my eating habits. Weekends tend to get busy so I’m going to workout Monday, Wednesday and Friday for 45 mins each to complement my nutrition etc…be as detailed as possible here!!
Set Yourself Up
Keep a stocked fridge; don’t leave yourself with any excuses to eat poorly because you didn’t have access to quality food. Hit the grocery store twice a week on the way home from work or do one big shop weekly to make sure you’ve got everything you need to succeed!
Once your fridge is stocked with great nutrition, keep a bunch of cooked and ready to go food on hand so no matter how busy life gets you’ve got food prepped even in a jam!
Don’t Get Conned
Don’t waste any time looking into fad diets or ‘miracle fat loss’ supplements, for one they don’t exist otherwise we’d have figured it out already and two we’re after a real lifestyle shift here not a temporary Band-Aid approach. The way you get in shape and STAY in shape is via smart nutrition and movement of your choice! If you like running…run, if you enjoy lifting weights do that and if you’d prefer to go for walks or hikes by all means hit the pavement or a trail!
In a predicament and don’t know what to do? Ask yourself one simple question…is this going to get me closer to my goal or further away? Is gorging on pizza going to help or hurt my progress? You’ll know what route to take 100% of the time!
Have A Short Memory
Went out one night and indulged in a little too much food and/or alcohol, DON’T SWEAT IT! Wake up the next morning, get a quality breakfast in you and forget about it…it’s over and there ain’t a thing you can do about it now, move on and make today the best it can be in regards to your objective!
Happy New Year and good luck, I hope you reach your goals this year!
